Rushing Headlong Into....

Ah, the post-Thanks Giving downhill side into the Holidays. We love it so, don't we? I mean, we love Black Friday and Cyber Monday and Twofer Tuesday and Threefer Thursday and the carnage of the feast is scarcely done and we rush headlong into our quest for the perfect gift, the perfect tree, the perfect outfit, the perfect latte.

This quest for perfection seems oddly placed, juxtaposed as it is with the culture of overindulgence America's Holiday Season demands. Drink more! Eat more! Work out harder! Better! Drive this! You'll be perfect if you do - your spouse/partner will be hot and strong and sensitive and uber-fit, your children will be beautiful and talented and caring and smart and athletic with perfect smiles, your job will be fulfilling and remarkably lucrative and will help save the world from climate change and provide you with inner peace and a sense of self-worth.

It will only snow when you want it to and then only large fluffy perfectly formed flakes.

To quote a songwriter I know pretty well: "I'd like to tell you all that this tale has a happy ending; some theatrically inspired uplifting denouement. But I'm afraid you'll have to come up with your own happy ending, because I can't."

We here at the House Of Strays wish for you a pleasant week filled with whatever gets you through your days. Please be kind to one another - we're all we've got....

It's A Rough World, Baby....
