Young Ain't Young No More

Reflecting, as I sometimes do, on my childhood and some of the main players in my own personal saga, I got to thinking about my Grampy. He was one of those guys that could design, build and fix most anything. I remember him fondly. And so this happened:

Young

I wish I could talk with you
Of all the things that you used do
And you could tell me the stories
I would pay more attention now
I wish you weren’t so far away
In a place I’ll probably never get to
You promised we would meet again someday
But now I’m not so sure

You always said that youth was wasted on the young
Well, young didn’t listen the way he shoulda done
You probably knew that too
I could never get one over on you

Young ain’t young no more
Young ain’t young no more

How I wish you were here
What I wouldn’t give to share one more root beer with you
And maybe whittle on some old board
Or fix yet again that old vacuum cleaner cord
Or sit next to you at supper saying grace
Evening sun slanting through the window to your face
My hand disappearing in your calloused old paw
I remember it all

You always said that youth was wasted on the young
Well, young didn’t listen the way he shoulda done
But young loved you just the same
Though the words never came

Here's a demo version of this new tune. Played on a Weissenborn lap steel, in open C tuning.

Stay well and safe. Be kind.

Using https://rankmywriter.com/essaycapital-com-review is a pleasure. As a student, I value my time, sleep, and health very much. Therefore, from time to time I order here or other homework assignments and it saves me a lot of time.
